Taxpayers To Appear Before Finance Committee

-- CTF to Advocate for Debt reduction and Privatization in Pre-Budget Submission --

OTTAWA:
Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) federal director Walter Robinson will appear before the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs on Wednesday, February 16, 2000 to outline the CTF's recommendations for the 2000 provincial budget.

Specifically, the CTF will put forward its views on:
 

  • The need for a legislated debt reduction schedule;
     
  • The lack of provincial leadership in the field of privatization;
     
  • The provincial tax hikes through bracket creep; and
     
  • Alarming trends in program spending and non-traditional revenue generation.



Mr. Robinson will outline the main recommendations of the CTF Ontario pre-budget report entitled Cut Tomorrow's Taxes, Reduce Debt Today during his scheduled 30-minute appearance before the committee.
